Data obtained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers indicates the potential for record low water levels in Lake Michigan and Lake Huron this spring and early summer. Low winter water levels and a trend in recent years of low lake levels support this notion. There are implications for human activities and habitat quality for aquatic wildlife.
For the past few months, local middle school students have developed projects for an annual science competition. For this year’s competition, participants were instructed to conceptualize and create a hypothetical future city. The city had to address an environmental issue; this year it was storm water runoff management. IPFW hosted the competition in the Walb Student Union.
